It's simple. When a courier arrives at your building, they scan the parcel's barcode on the ParcelPort touchscreen. The system automatically matches the parcel to the correct resident, assigns an appropriately sized locker slot, and opens the door for deposit. Once the courier completes the drop-off, you receive a text message and email with a unique pickup code. Visit the locker at any time, enter your code or scan the barcode, and your slot opens automatically. The entire process is contactless and available 24/7 — no concierge involvement required.
The cost of a smart parcel locker system depends on several factors including the number of units in your building, the locker configuration (number and size of slots), and your preferred support package. ParcelPort offers flexible options for buildings of all sizes — from small communities to 500+ unit high-rises. With exception of Canada Post, who is not sanctioned to use any third party locker, ParcelPort smart lockers are fully courier-agnostic, meaning any delivery company can deposit parcels — including FedEx, UPS, Purolator, Amazon, Intelcom, DHL, and local couriers. There are no restrictions on which carriers can access the locker, ensuring that every parcel your residents order online makes it into a secure slot regardless of who ships it.
Parcels remain in the locker for two calendar days from the time you receive your delivery notification. ParcelPort sends reminders before the expiry period ends, so you'll have plenty of notice. If you need additional time, simply contact our support team. You can also forward your pickup code to a trusted friend or family member to collect the parcel on your behalf.
Yes. ParcelPort's software integrates with most major property management platforms. The system can connect securely to your building's resident database, automatically updating the locker directory so that new residents are added and departing residents are removed without manual intervention. This eliminates the administrative burden on building staff and ensures the locker system is always up to date.
Yes. ParcelPort's smart locker system is fully PIPEDA (Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act) compliant. All resident data is securely managed and stored, and our software is engineered and operated in North America. We take data privacy seriously and ensure that personal information collected through the locker system — such as names, contact details, and delivery records — is handled in accordance with Canadian federal privacy legislation.
If a parcel is too large to fit into any available locker slot, the courier will not deposit it into the smart locker. Instead, the courier will follow your building's standard delivery procedure — typically delivering directly to the concierge, security desk, or building staff if available. For very large or oversized deliveries, residents may need to arrange to be home to accept the package. We recommend coordinating with the courier at the time of ordering if you expect an oversized shipment.
